The greatest gift you can give today

sent by Armando Matijevich │

Dear friend,

This Thanksgiving, I want to give thanks by doing something simple:
listening better.

As we go deeper into this AI-driven world, our attention is being pulled into a digital stream more than ever. Not in a conspiratorial way. Just in a real, observable way.

And lately, I’ve started noticing how hard it’s becoming for us to truly pay attention.

Have you felt it too?

You know what I mean – when someone’s talking but your mind drifts after two sentences…or you feel the urge to interrupt before they finish…or your phone lights up and your presence disappears for a moment.

At my morning coffee spot, I see it constantly.
People talking, while the other person casually checks their phone.
People jumping in mid-sentence, as if they’re “swiping” to the next talking point.

It’s wild when you think about it.
As our brain adapts to digital algorithms, how much of that gets replicated in real-life patterns?
Are we mimicking our online behavior in offline life?
The obvious answer is yes.

But instead of being scared of it, we can respond to it.

Not by fixing the whole world.
Just by practicing something simple.

I read a quote the other day, I’m not sure who wrote it, but it said:
“The greatest gift you can give is the gift of attention.”

So this Thanksgiving, here’s what I’m doing:
When I talk to someone, I’m dropping my phone, leaning in, and truly listening.
Not “swiping.”
Not rushing.
Just being there.

Happy Thanksgiving,
and thank you for giving me your attention each week.
It means more than you know.

One Line to Carry With You:

Attention is love in its simplest form.

Truly yours, this moment.

Armando
