Dear friend,
Let’s go deeper into something I’ve mentioned multiple times,
but it’s actually extremely important.
I call it DNN – Daily Non-Negotiables.
What non-negotiables do you have?
Are they really non-negotiables, or do you just like to think they are?
Is it something you keep, or something you perceive as such but in reality rarely happens?
I might sound harsh, but I want you to think honestly.
At some point you have to stop putting everything else in the number one spot.
Here’s how I see it:
If I don’t prioritize myself and my health, nobody else will.
And why should they? Everyone is busy dealing with their own life.
So you have to be a bit ruthless.
Here are mine right now:
– First 90 minutes of the day, screen-free
– Full-body morning stretch (about 7–8 minutes)
– Two big blocks of focused work
– Coffee without a screen
– At least one meal without a screen
– Last 90 minutes, screen-free
– Gratitude journal before bed (Andrea and I do it every single night)
– One daily workout (picigin or strength training)
Of course, that’s just my example.
You need to figure out what works for you.
Now, here’s what this really is.
It’s your default operating system.
You won’t hit it 100% of the time.
That wouldn’t even be right. You can’t live perfectly like that.
But it’s the place your day returns to whenever it drifts.
If you don’t have a default, the day decides for you.
Without this, we fall victim to a world constantly pulling at our attention.
Start small but decide it.
One Line to Carry With You:
Design your defaults, or the world will design them for you.
Truly yours, this moment.
